We Are The Muses

We are the Muses,
Goddesses of the Arts.
If you should ever call upon us,
Beautiful words will flow from your hearts.
But which do you call to fulfill your need?
Are you a historian, and need only fact?
Clio can help you keep things straight.
She does not deal with the abstract,
But, as history goes, she may make you wait.
Do you love to dance and sing?
Terpsichore is light on her feet,
She can make your dance full of feeling,
But only if you bring her a treat.
Have you found the one and must tell the world?
Erato will give you the words you need,
She can whisper sweet words until your toes are curled.
But she enjoys just as much hearing you plead.
Do you wish to write with rhyming rhythm?
Euterpe makes words that sing and dance.
She can fill your words with thoughts and vision,
But beware her enchanting words leading you into trance.
Are you riddled with tragedy and loss?
Melpomene delights in telling your painful tales
She can make readers cry even when cross,
But you might never stop, for she loves your wails.
Do you long to sing glorious hymns?
Polyhymnia sings sweet melodies to those who listen.
She can make you feel music all the way through your limbs,
But she may make you sing until you begin to glisten.
Have you found yourself staring at a particular star?
Urania brings knowledge and understanding of the dark.
She brings awe into your soul and loves the bizarre,
But often times you’ll find yourself making a strange remark.
Do you love to laugh and play?
Thalia fills you with a joyous air.
She can make you giggle all day,
But when you can’t stop, try not to pull your hair.
Have you ever dreamed of writing an epic?
Calliope inspires the longest of writings and arts.
She can make your stories sound majestic,
But grab a chair, for she won’t stop once she starts.
The Muses are here for your every desire,
They know what you need to make you stronger.
Whether you are a lover, singer or crier,
Call upon us and wait no longer.
